HAMILTON, Richard Albert Franklin - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Franklin Hamilton with family by his side at Algoma Residential Community Hospice on July 1, 2026, at the age of 75 .
Richard will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Katherine Hamilton; his daughter, Meredith Sewell (Joey); and his son, Bradley Hamilton (Keira). He was a proud and cherished grandfather to Mikayla, Emily, Mya, Jack, and Levi. He was a proud pup parent to his former dog, Lola, his pride and joy and Piper. He is predeceased by his parents, Dick and Betty Hamilton and his sister Brenda.
Richard’s life was marked by love for his family, kindness toward others, and the lasting memories he created with those closest to him. He will be remembered with affection and gratitude by all who knew and loved him. He instilled hard work ethic, accountability and honesty within his children who are now able to pass this on to theirs.
Richard was greatly known for his love of the Sault Greyhounds, Toronto Maple Leaf’s and Toronto Blue Jays. He was a kindhearted man who loved to talk hockey, politics and about his pride for his children and grandkids.
Richard loved the adventures he was able to go on to Australia to visit his son, daughter-in-law and grandkids. He also had a passion for watching his three granddaughters play hockey. These are memories that will last within our hearts forever.
We would like to thank all of the doctors who helped with his cancer journey, the amazing nurses on the 3rd floor of the Sault Area Hospital, Dr. Buehner and Dr. Apostle who were amazing near the end of his journey and finally all of the staff at A.R.C.H. who had so much compassion for us as a whole and kept him comfortable in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Water Tower Inn - Grand Hall (360 Great Northern Rd.) on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, between 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm for a Celebration of Life. Donations (payable by cheque or online) are appreciated and asked to be made to Sault Area Hospital Foundation or A.R.C.H. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East, 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be made at www.arthurfuneralhome.com
