MOSS, Robert John - (AP) We are beyond devastated to announce the unexpected passing of the beloved patriarch of our family on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Sault Area Hospital surrounded by his wife and daughters, “Bob’s Angels”.
We are left to mourn his passing but are blessed with a lifetime of love and memories that he selflessly gifted us.
Devoted husband and best friend of 53 years to Cheryl (nee Wilson). Treasured “Daddy” to his daughters; the late Mary, Carlie and Jaime (Stacy). Proudest “Papa” and number one fan of his only grandchild, his pride and joy, Nico Bossio. Dearest son of the late Clarence and Doreen Moss. Beloved son-in-law of the late Basil and Joy Wilson. Cherished brother of Steven, Bill (Randi) and much loved brother-in-law of Monica Edgar (late Ken), Kerry Dutchak (Ken), and Kevin Wilson (Sue). Adored uncle, great uncle and godfather to many.
Bob was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie and attended Sault Collegiate Institute followed by the University of Waterloo. He began working for Model Dairy but changed professions and retired after 34 years with Algoma Steel. Bob was a man of his word with a fierce work ethic and a natural leader that everyone respected.
Bob enjoyed immensely his time at the cottage where he marvelled at the abundant wildlife and lakefront views. Every sunrise, sunset and star in the sky will forever remind us of his gentle spirit and unwavering love.
Bob struggled with Parkinson's and cancer for the last 15 years but never stopped smiling. He was a pillar of strength even through life’s storms. We are honoured that he was the head of our family and this marks an immeasurable loss in our lives.
Bob’s family would like to acknowledge the staff at Sault Area Hospital (3A/ICU) with a special, heartfelt thank you to Dr. Curran who provided incredible compassion and care during his stay and allowed him to pass peacefully with dignity and grace.
Bob would ask us to remind you to hold your loved ones close and leave nothing unsaid, for we are never promised tomorrow.
“If love could have kept you alive - you would have lived forever”.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel on Monday, July 28, 2025 from 11 am to 12:45 pm. Service will be held at 1 pm with Pastor Jeremy Edgar officiating. Reception to follow. Memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation, Parkinson’s Society or the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Moss family.
