Surrounded by her loving family, Susan Jane Celetti peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the age of 65 at the Sault Area Hospital.
Susie managed her 7-year battle with cancer gracefully and with complete trust and confident faith in the plans of her Heavenly Father.
Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Susan was the beloved daughter of Patricia Nott-Hilderley and the late Kenneth Nott, loving stepdaughter of Don Hilderley. She will be deeply missed by her husband Rocco and children Jeffrey Mark and Courtney Celetti. Reunited in heaven with her dear son Jason Mark. Adoring and proud grandmother of Avery Jayde, who brought immense light and joy into her life. Remembered by her former husband Don Mark (Laurie).
Loved daughter-in-law of Mario and Wanda Celetti. Sister-in-law of Tim (Shannon), Chris (Jill), Clint (Patrice) and Lee Ann Archibald (late Rick). Susie cherished time spent with her stepbrother Michael Hilderley (Kristi) and stepsister Meghan Hilderley McClelland (Rick). Survived by her brothers Jamie and Michael (Alanna) and many nieces and nephews.
Susan’s life was a reflection of kindness, faith, and gratitude. She built lifelong friendships through her childhood, her work at the Group Health Centre, Gateway Community Church, and her participation in the Algoma University Homestay Program, where she welcomed many international students into her home and heart.
Her walk with her son Jason’s struggle to overcome opioid addiction ultimately led Susie to come alongside many mothers in the same situation. She was an advocate for seeking help for people caught in addiction and spent several years on the Sault Ste. Marie Drug Strategy Committee.
She will be fondly remembered for her warmth, generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all who supported Susan with care, friendship, and prayer, which includes Bayshore Home Nursing, especially Susie’s primary nurse Lee who is such a considerate, compassionate, and selfless caregiver. Thank you to all the medical specialists who came across Susie’s path, including the Sault Area Cancer Clinic team (nurses Louise and Amanda) and Dr. Spadafora for caringly trying everything she could. Special shout out to Michelle in Radiology. A special thank you also goes out to the care team in 3C for their gentle care during Susie’s last days.
