Message to Brenda
Dear Lloyd,
Thank you for sharing the news about Verna with me. Please pass this message on to Brenda:

It is with us shock and sadness that I received this news about your mother Brenda. After having an opportunity to think about what has happened, I realize that of all the people I know, Verna was prepared for this part of her journey. She was kind and loving, generous and accepted people for who they were. I am sure that her name was added to the Lambs Book of Llife many years ago, and that she is with her heavenly father now. I send you my most sincere condolences and I pray for the comfort and support of your friends, your family, and the community that Verna was very much part of.

I received this information while I was en route to British Columbia. I cannot be with you at this time but hold you in my heart.

We were very sad to hear of Verna's passing and send our love and prayers to all the family.  She was always a part of my life - from when I was a very small girl.  I enjoyed the times we were able to visit - not too often since our family has lived in many distant places and the trips to the Soo were not very frequent.  She was such a lovely person who will be sorely missed by all. I aIways looked forward to the great cookies she made at Christmastime!  Aloha Verna, you are now in a better place - God bless and comfort those of us left who miss you so much.

My thoughts and prayers are with cousins Randy, Brenda, Rick, Toni and Erin and their families at this sad time. Some of my favourite childhood memories are of time spent in the Soo at Uncle Bailey and Aunt Verna's. I remember a little chaos, much laughter, and always Aunt Verna's warm and welcoming smile. I continued to enjoy visits with Aunt Verna with my own family whenever we were in town for our girls' skating competitions. I will treasure those memories always. Aunt Verna will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

My deepest sympathy to cousins Randy, Brenda, Rick, Toni, Erin and extended families on the lost of your mother and grandmother. Aunt Verna was such a warm and loving person. I have many happy childhood memories of living in the Soo and spending time with the family. Over the years, we stayed with Aunt Verna and Uncle Bailey many times on our trips back to and through the Soo and we were always welcomed with open arms. I will remember Aunt Verna as a gracious lady with quiet strength. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her and loved her.

The world has lost a beautiful lady. Grandma Ray will hold a special place in my heart forever and I wanted to share some of my memories of her. I will never forget how much fun it was to go to her house for visits, as a child, playing with the drawer full of yarn and crochet needles and already stitched strings, or Grandma and I making doll clothes for my Raggedy Ann. There were always skis and shoes waiting at Grandmas house for anyone who wanted to go, and she didn't even get upset when I broke a binding on one of the shoes! After family dinner always included a walk to the corner and back, and maybe watching Popeye and the best part of sleepovers was the toast and syrup right before bedtime, and in my adult life, visits were not complete until the last scrabble tile was laid.  We received the last beautiful quilt she ever made in the mail a couple of weeks ago for her youngest great grandchild, Matthew. We love you always Grandma.

Aunt Verna was a gentle, kind and caring woman, always ready to lend a helping hand, never asking for anything in return.  She cherished family and was proud of her children and grandchildren.  She leaves behind a lifetime of memories for all to share.  My heart and prayers go out to her family and my cousins during this sad time.

Before I ever met Grandma Ray, I knew she was a special lady. Jeremy always spoke fondly of her, and shared with me the memories of spending time with her when she worked on the trains, and the odd time he needed a ride somewhere. Her love can still be felt in our home through the beautiful hand sewn quilts she has made. Jeremy's was given to him when he moved out west. She said "I don't know when you will marry so take this now." When Hannah and Cameron were born their beautiful quilts arrived too, they will be something we will always have of her, to remind us that we have all lost a loving and gentle spoken soul.

We would like to express our sincere condolence to Jeremy and the Ray family . Our taught and prayers are with you.
