Wayne Clark

He had unconditional love for his wife and children and a strength they could rely on when they needed to. He was a loving , caring and fun Grampa and Great Grampa.

Wayne had a special way with babies, he could always make them smile, no matter whose baby it was.

He had an amazing sense of humor with an endless supply of quips, anecdotes and stories to tell. He enjoyed his life and the experience of living it. Friends and acquaintances found him an easy man to get to know. He was uncomplicated, straightforward, friendly and was always seen with a smile.

Wayne was born January 29, 1937 at the General Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. His parents were Manley and Madeline Clark. He was raised in Rydall Bank and later in Echo River with his three younger sisters, Carol, Linda and Elaine.

On August 24, 1956 Wayne married Laureanne (Lanny) Grenon at St. Veronica's Church in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. His focus now was to settle down and raise a family. They shared 52 wonderful years together. He was blessed with five children, daughters Kim and Lori and sons, Scott, Keith and Aaron, seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. His best friends were Butch Grenon and the late Yvon Poliquin. He cherished his pets, Smokey and Toby. Smokey was his buddy for fifteen years and Toby for the last five years.

Wayne was a jack-of-all trades, self taught in everyone. He built two homes including all electrical and plumbing. He repaired all his own vehicles. snow machines, lawn mowers and snow blowers. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix.

In 1969, Wayne and Lanny purchased a confectionary, restaurant business in Echo Bay. Here they raised their family of five while Wayne continued to work full-time for the Sault Daily Star where he was employed for 35 years.

He enjoyed many sport and leisure activities such as hockey, baseball, broomball, hunting, fishing , snow mobiling, jigsaw puzzles and television. As a sports enthusiast, he was a diehard Toronto Maple Leaf fan and never missed watching a game.

Wayne retired in 1988. He developed a passion for solitaire, stain glass, watching television and cooking. He would always have supper ready for Lanny when she came home from work and kept the house clean and tidy. At Christmas and other holidays, Lanny would prepare a big family dinner and you could count on Wayne to carve the turkey or ham. His new life involved spending more time at camp with his family, swimming, boating, fishing and doing crossword puzzles.

Travel and vacations were experiences that Wayne truly enjoyed once you convinced him to go. His favorite vacations included family trips to the east and west coasts of Canada, to Disney Land and cruises to Alaska and the Carribean. His last vacation was with Scott, Keith and Aaron when they took him on a trip to British Columbia, salmon fishing.

Wayne passed away on June 1, 2008 at the General Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He is survived by his wife Lanny, children Kim, Lori, Scott, Keith and Aaron. His grandchildren, Krys, Tasha, Jamie, Bryan, Robin, Rick, Rob, Ryan, Jessica, Travis, Tyler, Brandon, Jarrett, Joe, Tom, Makayla, and Mady. His great grandchildren are Kayla, Dylan, Mike, Derek, Brad, Eryn, Zac and Ryder. His mother, Madeline and sisters Carol, Linda and Elaine.

He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. We will carry him in our hearts forever.
