After a short and intense battle with cancer, Wayne left this life and began his next journey. We stood beside you with love and strength through your final days and nights, ensuring you never made your journey alone.
My dad did not want an obituary, he lived life on his own terms, following his own path. He was tough, stoic, and stubborn, loving, passionate and a protector. Like his parents Terry and Philomena who he has now joined nothing meant more to him than family. Those of us lucky enough to be a part of his life, know the world is a better place because he was in it.
I could go on and on about the things he did, or as he would say "I'll do it next time." Places he went or will go with you next time, or the things he enjoyed, or will buy next year. None of those things would ever explain what it meant to be his son, his daughter, his sister, granddaughter and his friend. I am not sure how you put a lifetime of love into a short amount of words. How to explain the comfort of knowing someone is always there when you need them for anything. I don't think you can. My dad was the very foundation of the person I am today.
Dad, you didn't want an obituary so I won't give you one. I'll just tell the world something I wish I could tell you a million more times.
I'm so incredibly proud to be your son.
If I can live my life in a way that makes you half as proud, I will consider it a life well lived.
I love you Dad.
See you “next time”
