

Born May 16, 1943 in Savannah, Georgia, Leon attended Groves High School. He continued his education at North Georgia College, graduating in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in Business and later earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University in 1971. He retired as a Colonel from the United States Army after serving for over 27 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as both football and baseball. Because of his love for the outdoors, he and his wife moved from Peachtree City, Georgia to Lake Oconee in 1999 after they both retired.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ricketson; daughter Marcia Ricketson of Portsmouth, Virginia; son Gregory Ricketson, daughter-in-law Anna Elizabeth (Beth) Ricketson and granddaughter Catherine (Caty) Layne Ricketson; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James M. Ricketson and Dorothy Smith; his sisters Dona Marie Murray and Frances Pauline “Polly” Mock; and an infant son James D. Ricketson.
Arrangements are with Fairhaven Funeral Home.

Memorial Reception: For those unable to travel to Savannah, there will a drop-in visitation at Liberty Volunteer Fire Department in White Plains from Noon - 2 pm on Sunday, May 31st.
