

Carolyn Alexander Brooks, age 91, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Candler Hospital in Savannah, GA. Mrs. Brooks was born in Elbert County on June 7, 1922, the daughter of the late Dr. C.L. Alexander and Vashti Gulley Alexander Jones. She was a graduate of North Georgia College. Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, John H. Brooks, Jr., owner of Brooks Chevrolet Buick Pontiac in Millen, Georgia and her brother, Robert Alexander of Atlanta, Georgia. While living in Millen she was active in the Millen Baptist Church, Millen Woman’s Club, Azalea Garden Club, and was a leader in children’s activities. Upon moving to The Landings in Savannah in 1998, she loved playing bridge with friends, reading, crossword puzzles, knitting, and flower arranging. She was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital in the flower department for several years. She was also a member of the Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church and served on the floral committee.
She is survived by her children, John Robert Brooks (Robbie Ulmer) and Carol Brooks (Daniel Kaminsky), all of Savannah; her grandchildren, Brad Dickey of Bluffton, SC and Amanda Dickey of Savannah, GA; her nieces and nephews, Carolyn Thibadeau(Leonard), Lori Leary, Bobby Alexander, and Scott Alexander, all of Atlanta, GA.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Graveside services and entombment will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Dr. Sam Henderson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Brooks to Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church, 50 Diamond Causeway, Savannah, GA 31411.
The family would like to thank the staff at Buckingham South for the loving care they provided for Mrs. Brooks.
