

Deborah Smith Lane, 88, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 15, 2011 at Tara of Thunderbolt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin T. Lane and a son, Clifford Terrance Lane.
Mrs. Lane was born in Bulloch Co., raised in Savannah and attended local schools here. She was a devoted and active member of the Salvation Army since 1934. She was the Young People’s Sgt. Major for 22 years, Home League Record Sgt. For 15 years, she played the Cornet in the Salvation Army Band since 1936, sold “The Salvation Army War Cry” for over 50 years and was the Sunday Schools Sgt. for many years.
Mrs. Lane is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Lane Collins (John R.) of Waycross, Ga.; two grandsons, David E. Collins of Waycross and Brian K. (Hope) Collins, of Hoboken, Ga.; one great-granddaughter, Hallie Collins; a sister, Willa Mae Smith Morris of Savannah, Ga. a devoted and longtime friend, Brenda Lake of Rincon, Ga., several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6 – 8 p. m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Garden.
