
On June 30, 2011, God called to his side Grace Pawnee Jackson Weaver, age 85. Grace was born in the lighthouse keeper’s house at Saint Simons Island, Georgia on July 14, 1925. From 1930 to 1946 she lived with her family at Tybee Island Light Station in Fort Screven, a teeming Army fort during World War II. She married a young Navy man, Carl Herbert Weaver on December 24, 1946. She gave birth to three children and enjoyed a wonderful life as a service wife and mother. Grace also worked several years as a clerk for Weight Watchers and was a lifelong member of Whitfield Methodist Church. Grace donated to several charities during her life.
Grace is preceded in death by her parents, Laura Pauline Jackson and George Boyd Jackson, the last civilian lighthouse keeper at Tybee Island, Georgia; a sister, Dorothy Jackson Tassey, and two brothers, Henry Jackson and Ralph Jackson. She is also preceded by her devoted husband Carl H. Weaver, Sr., and a daughter Laura Candice Weaver Jackson. She is survived by two sons, Guy Craig Weaver, Sr.(Sandra), and Carl Herbert Weaver, Jr.(Carol), 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6:-8 p.m. Monday at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Funeral Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Grover Bell officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
