

Jim was born November 12, 1944 in Florence S.C.
He grew up in Bishopville, Lee County, S.C.
He was the son of Willard P. and Sara Genoble Hearon.
Jim Took great pride in being a highly decorated Marine Veteran with twenty years of service. During Jim’s service to his country he received the Presidentiall Unit Citation for escorting President John F. Kennedy from Dallas, Texas to Washington D.C.; served in the Bay of Pigs Campaign, two tours in the Vietnam conflict, A Drill Instructor at Parris Island, S.C. and numerous assignments with the Marine Phantom (F-4) Air Wing. After Jim’s Military Career he retired from Gulfstream Aerospace after twenty Nine years.
The two most important things in his life were his family and his Church. He enjoyed riding his Harley, riding topless with his wife (Marilyn) in his Mustang convertible, watersports, and Nascar. Spending time watching his grandchildren at sporting events was one of his greatest pleasures. Jim was a Bishop with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served many callings during his twenty seven years with the Church.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Willard P. Hearon, Jr. (Brother), Julian and Helen Sturgess (in laws), Jennifer Isabell (granddaughter), and Janice and Amy Johns (Nieces). Jim was married to Marlyn Diane Sturgess Hearon on January 21, 1967. They had two children Diane Hearon and James Hearon, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Christina, James III, Kimberly, Saralyn, Michael, and Jimmy, two Great-grandchildren, Leland and Ella, sister, Ginger Bennitt (James) numerous in laws, nieces nephews and friends.
Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday June 16, 2015 at Fairhaven Funeral Home 7415 Hodgson Memorial Dr. Savannah, Ga. 31406.
Funeral Service: 1:oo pm Wednesday June 17, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 613 East Montgomery Crossroads.
Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers: Clyde Sturgess, Jimmy Sturgess, Bobby Sturgess, Ed Johns, Charles Scott, and Steven Busch.
