

James Thomas Sanders, 58, of Savannah, GA, passed away Monday August 15, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
James was a Savannah native, who graduated from Stanford High School in Fayetteville, NC in 1971. He was a self employed contractor with Yellowstone Construction Company. James attended Independent Presbyterian Church in Savannah, GA where he had been a member since 1987. He was a member of the United States Navy and a Vietnam Veteran. James was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was also very active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a troop leader.
James is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Gail Bragg Sanders; paternal grandparents, Howard and Lalia Sanders; and maternal grandparents, James Avery and Mamie Lou Bragg.
He is survived by his father, Merrill “Sandy” Sanders of Savannah; son, Matthew Sanders of Macon, GA; daughter Jane Elizabeth Sanders of Savannah; sisters Sandra Sanders Weidlich and Susan Sanders (Greg) Holden, both of Savannah; aunt Betty Rogers Bragg of Savannah and numerous cousins.
Visitation: 6 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Independent Presbyterian Church in Savannah.
Interment: 2:00 PM Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Beaufort National Cemetery.
The family requests that remembrances be made to The Boy Scouts of America on Abercorn Street in Savannah.
