Louis Curtis Campbell was the only child born to the late Willie and Rubirtha Campbell of Thedsville, Mississippi. Louis affectionately called “Billy”, became a Christian at an early age, and his religious affiliations represented an essential aspect of his life until his passing.
After graduation, Billy joined the armed forces as a paratrooper. Upon leaving the military, he relocated to Michigan where he met the former Louise Singleton. They were united in marriage, and from this union were two daughters, Lolita and Colette.
As a young man, Billy developed an interest in real estate. This interest continued throughout his life. As a founding member of The Five Dreamers investment Club, he enjoyed notable success as a real estate investor.
In addition to pursing several college degrees and other outside interests, Billy worked as a millwright at Great Lakes Steel in Ecorse, Michigan. He retired after 35 years of service. During retirement, he devoted time to his many hobbies: sports, western movies, fishing and gardening. Above all else, his yard was the showplace of the neighborhood. He was the proud recipient of several awards for his lawn and gardens.
Louis Curtis Campbell departed this life on May 3, 2013. In spite of his many successes and accomplishments, his family was his greatest source of pride and joy. He was a man of few words, known for his quiet strength, and good looks. Billy was admired and respected by all who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, devoted wife, Dr. Louise Campbell, daughters, Lolita LeNoir of Farmington Hills, Michigan; Colette Campbell-Williams, of Savannah, Georgia, granddaughter, Rebecca Williams; two sister-in-laws; Albertha Loadholt (Cleveland) and Florence Jenkins both of Savannah, Georgia.
Billy enjoyed the brotherhood of his extended family of cousins: Lonnie (Gloria) Campbell; Alvin (Alice) Campbell; Ralph (Victoria) Campbell all of Quitman, Mississippi; Leroy Campbell of Belleville, Michigan, Slater Campbell and Johnnie Mae Johnson (Brad) both of Detroit, Michigan. He also leaves to morn his passing, many cousins and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
