

Mable Allen Edgerly, affectionately known as Ma, was born September 6, 1924, and departed this life on Friday, October 7, 2011. Ma lived on Tybee most of her life. She was the “Queen” of the infamous “Tybee Beach Bum Parade”. Ma worked for Nickie Alexander for many years. She also worked at Chu’s, T & M, and Food Mart on Tybee Island. Ma was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Robert and Alma Allen, her brother, Edward Allen, her daughter, Marty Rentiers, and her son, Bubba Edgerly, Jr. Ma is survived by her daughter and son in law Teresa and Ronnie Tatum, Sr., her grandchildren, Joey and Jennifer Rentiers, Kenny and Brigitte Rentiers, Julie and Joe Ritsch, Bubba and Megan Edgerly, Jr., Susie and Jack Winn, Ronnie “Toot” Tatum, Jr., Ricky Edgerly and Tina Edgerly, her great grandchildren Lindsay and Robert Helmly, Sr., Rosie and Tommy Jordan, Allen Tatum, Joseph Rentiers, Kenner Rentiers, T.J. Rentiers, James Rentiers, John Winn, Maggie Edgerly, McKale Winn and Amelia Winn, and her great great grandchildren, Ashley Helmly, Robert Helmly, Jr., and “Little T” Tommy Jordan, III, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Odyssey Hospice, especially Catherine Miller, Susan McDaniel, and Mary Ann Cooper, Nurse Patricia Brown, and the staff of Oceanside Nursing Home for their gracious care. Visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Monday, October 10 at St. Michaels Catholic Church Tybee with a memorial Mass held at 2pm with Monsignor Costigan officiating. Interment will follow at the Catholic Cemetery.
