

He was born in Georgia, and was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Kersey Jones. He was a veteran of WW II, having served as a Paratrooper in the US Army, and later in the Georgia Army National Guard, and was retired from the Seaboard Railroad, having worked as a welder.
He served as a Royal Ambassador Leader for young boys, 10 and 11 years old, teaching them the word of God, and coaching them in Baseball. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons, active in the Senior Adult Sunday School Department, served as Grounds Keeper, and was active in the Music Department, having served as Guitarist and Accompanist for the Services.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Latana J. Everett (Harold) of Live Oak, Fla, and Darlene J. Colon of Savannah, Ga; 3 sons, Timothy L. Jones (Judy) of Elberon, Virginia, Larry R. Jones (Brenda) of Savannah, Ga., and Alton B. Jones of Lyons, Ga; a brother, James R. Jones (Doris) of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla, and a sister, Louise J. Lumpkin of Jacksonville, Fla, 17 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Saturday in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Rev. Joe Conner and Rev. Julie Stanley Mack officiating.
Interment: Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
