Aidan was born in Co. Down, Northern Ireland. He moved to Canada in 1988 and worked as a skilled trim carpenter. He served with honor and dedication as a firefighter with the Toronto Fire Service for 21 years where he was known for his bravery and selflessness. Aidan’s wicked sense of humour and infectious laugh was iconic.
Aidan is survived by his children, Siobhan (Spencer) and Liam, his separated wife, Maureen, as well as his siblings Kathleen, Michael (Ann), Antionette (Padraig), Louis (Joanne). He was a cherished uncle, cousin, nephew and friend to many in Canada, Ireland, England and the USA. He is predeceased by his parents Aidan and Agnes and in-laws Hughie and Gerdie Doherty.
Visitation will be at Paul O’Connor funeral home, 1939 Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario, M1R 2Y8 on Sunday, December 29th, from 2-4pm and 6-9pm and Monday, December 30th, from 5-8pm. A Funeral Mass at 10 AM to honor Aidan’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 31st, at St. John’s Parish; 786 Kingston Road, Toronto, Ontario, M4E 1R7. Burial to follow at St. John's Norway cemetery; 256 Kingston Road, Toronto, ON M4L 1S7.
