Catalina "Cathy" Gumaru

With heavy hearts we are announcing that Catalina Domingo Gumaru, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away on the morning of July 1st. Throughout her life, Cathy was a source of unwavering love, strength, and guidance to her family and friends. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always ready to welcome one more.

She is survived by her children Jingle & Gerard, Jojo & Marie, Mikko & AJ, grandchildren Jessie & Candace, siblings Auring & Damian, Mimia & Peter, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She also had built a large family by bond who called her “Mama/Mader”, “Ate/Sis”, “Anti/Tita”, “Lola” or simply “friend/fren” as she had nurtured generations of neighbors, friends and coworkers with wisdom, laughter, and the kind of love that leaves a lasting imprint. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched—through a kind word, a hot meal, or a shoulder to lean on.

We invite all who knew and loved Cathy to join us in honoring her life at Paul O'Connor Memorial Homes at 1939 Lawrence Ave E, Scarborough on Thursday, July 10, from 5 to 9 pm, and again on Friday, July 11, from 4 to 9 pm. A chapel service will be held at Paul O'Connor Memorial Homes on Saturday, July 12 at 10 am.

Cathy's remains will be laid to rest at Pine Ridge Memorial Gardens in Ajax.
