Clara Ines Uribe

Clara Ines Uribe (nee Dominguez) – Passed away peacefully at North York General Hospital on June 13, 2024, in her 82nd year. Clara is predeceased by her devoted husband of 33 years, Ivan Uribe. Sister to (Amparo, Samuel, Jose, Olga, Rosa, Lubin). Loving mother to (Luisa [Brian) and Claudia). Grandmother to (Christian, Julian, Alexandra). Clara will be remembered by many more extended family and friends.

Clara was born and raised in and around Medellin, Colombia. It is there where she fostered her deep faith and unbreakable bonds with her family. Despite the trials and tribulations of immigrating to a new country in 1972, Clara alongside her husband Ivan, gave it their all to make Toronto their home, and helped pave the way for other siblings to immigrate. They would eventually go on to have Luisa and Claudia, who stand on their shoulders – their examples of love, generosity and faith, helped shape the way their daughters navigate the world today.

Clara lived a full and active life and you could find her almost anywhere but home (but often, at Scarborough Town Centre.) She loved to spend time with her brothers and sisters, daughters and grandchildren, various groups of longtime friends, and her church community. She was known for her storytelling, jokes, and a distinct laugh that would fill the room. In recent years, she nurtured her wanderlust by travelling to Florida, Colombia, China, Japan, Russia and even a road trip to Alberta and British Columbia. This year, trips to Turkey, Prince Edward Island and Colombia, were in the works. Clara’s children and grandchildren vow to travel as much as possible and they know she will be rooting them on from heaven.

Family and Friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation from 5-8:30 pm on Sunday June 23rd at Paul O’Connor Funeral Home Scarborough (1939 Lawrence Avenue East). A Funeral Mass will take place the following day, Monday June 24th at 11 am, at Saint Thomas More Parish (2234 Ellesmere Rd, Scarborough).
