It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Claude Francis Bolton, of Scarborough, Ontario. He peacefully departed on Sunday, June 15, at the age of 85, surrounded by family.
A Journey from Guyana
Fifty-eight years ago, Claude journeyed from his hometown of Georgetown, Guyana, to Scarborough, Ontario with his beloved wife, Elizabeth. Over the years, he generously sponsored numerous family members to come to Canada. Today, hundreds of relatives thrive in Canada thanks to Claude’s brave spirit and compassionate heart.
A Legacy of Education and Empowerment
Claude was dedicated to providing his children with a ‘better’ life in Canada. He devoted countless hours to teaching them how to read, write, master multiplication tables, craft speeches, and play sports, most notably soccer and judo.
Being an immigrant, he also instilled in his children the importance of standing up for their rights and speaking out against injustices. No matter the circumstances, his children knew he would always stand behind them.
Remembering His Family
Claude is predeceased by his father, Cecil Bolton; mother, Agnes Bolton; sisters, Cora, Elaine, and Doreen; brother, Walter; and beloved grandson, Richard Aaron Bolton.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; children, Claude Jr., Brian, Ramona, and Roxane; grandchildren, Thaddeus (Stephanie), Jessica, Ashley, Kess, Maximus, Xavier, Malia, and great-grandchildren Ophelia, Brooke and Fox. He also cared deeply for his daugther-in-laws. Claude was extremely close to and loved dearly by his older brothers Derek and Hector, and sister Claire.
Claude was a devout Catholic who attended Latin Mass every week. We are deeply grateful for the numerous visits by Father Ash and the blessings and prayers he provided to our father in his final days. We also thank Guy for taking Dad to church weekly these last few months.
The impact our father had on our lives was tremendous. He will be dearly missed.
