It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Connie on September 22, 2026, at the age of age 89, at Scarborough General Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, with her daughter Sandra and her sister Anne by her bed-side.
Born on July 21, 1937, in Ottawa, Ontario, Connie was the beloved first-born daughter of Ernest (Ernie) Strachan Duncan and Bessie (Queenie) Annette Barker (both predeceased). She spent her childhood initially in Ottawa and then the family relocated to Scarborough.
Beyond her work, she dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted mother and is lovingly remembered by her children Sandra Kendall (nee Scott) and David Scott (Shannon) and proud grandmother to Angus and Andrew.
Dear sister of Ronald (Dawn) (both predeceased) and proud aunt to nephews Steve (Susan and great-nephew Zach) and Bill (Caroline), dear sister of Douglas (Barbara) and proud aunt to nephew Brent (Noelle and their children Ethan, Foster, Levi and Annsley) and niece Jennifer. Dear sister of Anne. Cherished Gammie to grand-puppy Winston and grand-cat Tigger.
Connie will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, resilience and unwavering devotion to her family. She will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
A private celebration will be held with the family to honour Connie’s life.
Donations, per the family’s request, to be made in Connie’s memory to the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
