It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David (Dave) Maloney on Sept. 12th, 2026 in his 68th year. He was born in Toronto on February 5th, 1959 to his loving parents, Larry and the late Ruth Maloney (nee McCullough). He will be greatly missed by his siblings Lauren (Tina Grant), Sandra Maloney-Efford (Wayne), Bruce (Stéphane Éthier), and Sharon McKeigue (Brian). Uncle David will be missed by his nephews and nieces, Matthew (Mary, with Willy) and Kristen Comeau (Aidan, with Lindsay), Sam (Jenny) and Spencer, Katlyn and Angie.
David loved nature and animals - he was a gentle soul and loved to immerse himself in nature and observe animals in their natural habitat. He also loved sci-fi - with his favourite books being the Dune series. But David’s first love was sports. After lacing on his first pair of skates when he was barely more than a toddler, David was hooked. Hockey, baseball, football and soccer… he played them all. Making his way up through various leagues in West Hill and Scarborough, David excelled at the sports he loved. It is fitting that, in retirement, he worked with the Blue Jays and was fortunate to attend most games.
David will be deeply missed by his father, brother and sisters, brother-and-sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Visitation will be held at Paul O'Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave. E, Scarborough, ON, M1R 2Y8, on September 21st, 2026, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and followed by a chapel service at 3:00pm.
Donations in memory of David may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
May he rest in peace.
