He is survived by his wife, Cristeta Malto, his daughter Sheena Malto-Derikx, and his son John Kenneth Malto.
He was born in the Philippines on October 18th, 1955. He was an Engineer for many years before coming to Canada with his family in 2001. In Canada, he worked as a Caretaker for YRDSB until his retirement in 2025.
Elmer and Cristeta first met in Manila and had a long and happy marriage.
He also leaves behind his siblings: Jose Malto, Rene Malto and Ditas Malto, as well as nephews and nieces: Owen, Osbert, Obet, John Darryl, Ralph, Donna May, Janine Grace, Shaira Marie, Lady Joy, Karl Francis, and Aries Paul. He was preceded in death by Oscar Villarba Malto (father), Amancia Lacostales (mother), Oscar Jr. Malto (Brother), and Renand Malto (nephew)
The viewing and funeral service will be held at Paul O’Connor Funeral Home on Friday, April 17th, 2026. Viewing will be at 6-8pm, with the Memorial Service to follow and start at 7:30pm. We invite all our friends and family to join us as we celebrate his life.
