Our dear aunt, Helen, passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on Saturday, October 1st, 2022 at The Houses of Providence. Aunt Helen was the last person in our parents’ generation to live amongst us all. She will be greatly missed by her family and it will be strange not to have her present at our get-togethers. In 1974, Helen’s brother, Hugh Fyfle, predeceased her.
Helen always fondly remembered her dear predeceased husband Murray and held him close to her heart. Together they built a loving marriage and a successful business as insurance brokers in the Don Mills area of Toronto. They were both avid golfers and enjoyed many a summer’s day with friends at the Summit Golf Club. They were in their element when basking in the sunshine and making their way around the course with friends to make the occasional hole-in-one!
Helen leaves behind nieces Margaret and Elizabeth, nephews Stephen, Robert (Karen) and Vincent (Christine). Helen will also be greatly missed by her great nieces Vanessa, Lauren, Stephanie, Natasha, Sonia, Katrina and her great nephews, Sean, Julian and Tim. Helen’s nieces Carol, Mary Ellen, Donna, Frances and nephew Bruce, predecease Helen.
Back in the 1970’s, Helen came to know Ruby Beckles who became a lifelong friend. As a nurse, she had taken care of Helen’s mom and dad in their long-term care home. Ruby has been a dear and loyal friend who visited Helen often and helped her with many everyday tasks at her retirement home.
In her later years, Helen found love for the second time with Ken Bayne. Helen and Murray had met Ken and Nan at the Donalda Club. Years later, after both Helen and Ken had lost their spouses; a special relationship blossomed between them. They enjoyed each other’s company immensely while doing everyday activities, going out to dinner or to celebrate her great niece’s wedding. After Ken passed, Helen missed him dearly and cherished all the wonderful times they had shared together.
As Helen has requested, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral mass will take place at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 1300 Leslie St., North York, ON M3C 2K9 on Saturday, October 15th, 2022 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice. At a later date, interment will take place within the mausoleum at Holy Cross Cemetery, 8361 Yonge Street, Thornhill, ON. Afterwards, a luncheon for family and close friends will take place.
