Suddenly, just before her 90th birthday, Joan Doreen Anderson, née Lundy, passed away. She was incredibly youthful, active and happy to be living independently and in her own home. She was looking forward to celebrating her 90th birthday with family after a recent getaway with her daughters.
Beloved wife of the late, Eric Phillip Anderson. Loving mother of Lorraine (Jean-Joseph Bellamy) and Janet Escott (Peter).
Grandma to Emily Escott (Sean Misketis), Michael Escott, David Bellamy (Kara Murphy), and Eric Bellamy (Brenna Gorman); and simply GG to her two great-grandchildren, Soyer and Miles Misketis.
Predeceased by her dear sister Patricia Elliott, Joan is survived by her cherished siblings Charles Lundy (Susan), and Ruth Bellamy (Ralph), and her brother-in-law Jim Elliott.
Widowed tragically at a young age, with grit and strength of character Joan raised her two daughters on her own and gave them a stable and loving home. She loved her family above all and cherished her many friends, although sadly many of them had passed before her.
Joan worked for most of her professional life for the Ministry of Correctional Services of Ontario, a career she found deeply rewarding. She was a loyal friend with lifelong friendships, the oldest dating back to kindergarten. She continued to make new friends throughout her life. She listened more than she talked and always liked to keep up with what her friends and family, and their children, were doing. She was a theatre and movie buff, yoga aficionado, lifelong news junkie, and a fan of true crime. She loved to travel whenever she got the chance and went on many adventures. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends, who are devastated by her loss.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Paul O’Connor funeral home, 1939 Lawrence Avenue East on August 20, 2026. Visitation from noon to 1 PM, service from 1-2 PM followed by a reception from 2-4 PM.
