It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Sciberas (née Curneen), who died peacefully on July 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was in her 100th year, a remarkable milestone that reflected a life filled with grace, resilience, and love.
Born in Drumconnor, Dromahair, County Leitrim, Ireland, Margaret came to Canada as a young woman, bringing with her a spirit of courage and determination. Margaret spent many years working at Scotiabank, where she was respected for her dedication and warmth. She gave generously of her time as a volunteer with the Out of the Cold program, through St. Brigid’s Catholic Church. Her commitment to the program reflected her desire to care for those in need.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Allan. She was a cherished mother to Jim (Lisa), Dale (Max), and Jessie (Mike); a proud and loving grandmother to Faith (David), Josh, Brielle, Maryse, Teague, Vanessa, Sarah, Matthew, and Evan; and great-grandmother to Joss, Scarlett, Daxton, and Kaiden.
She had an appreciation for life’s simple joys. She loved riding her bike along the Danforth and could never resist the charm of a good yard sale. Her warmth and generosity will be missed by family and friends in Canada and Ireland.
