It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marylyn Roberta Balsdon (nee Munsie) at Michael Garron Hospital on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at the age of 78. Marylyn was the wife and companion of late Brian (2022), loving mother to Greg (Cashlyn) and Megan (Andrew). Proud Grandma, Grammy to Silas, Aubrie and Lincoln. Sister to brother Murray and predeceased by her dearest sister Marsha (Jack). She was incredibly fond of her five nieces and two nephews. She was a devoted dog mom to Riley, who brought her so much joy for twelve years. Eternally grateful to her closest and oldest friend Janet (Dennis) and her ‘second daughter’ Cathy, with whom she had a special bond.
Marylyn was very proud to be born in Manitoba, and attended the University of Winnipeg, graduating with a Sociology degree. She went on to become an IT Consultant with a very impressive career, leading projects all over the world, travelling to the US, Australia, Turkiye, Hong Kong, UK, and Mexico. She had an extreme love for curling, playing until the early 80s, but she was most passionate about the sport when her two children were competing. She loved playing golf for many years, especially when she was in warmer climates, but mostly she enjoyed golfing with her son, an incredible player and teacher. Marylyn and Brian embarked on several adventures together – living in Switzerland in their early married years, taking sailing trips on Lake Ontario, and in the later years, weekend cottage getaways where they enjoyed sunset boat rides and wine on the deck.
A small celebration of Marylyn’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to one of the following organizations in her name:
