Dear Miguel Sr, Terri-Ann, Mateo, Chantal and Lauren,  I'm so very sorry to hear of the heartbreaking passing of little Miguel. Even though I didn't know him personally, I knew of him and his life from abuela Irma and tia Lorena . From all of their happy stories and the lovely photos posted I know that he was a sweet boy, full of life and adventure. With a beautiful smile and a twinkle in his eyes he was ready for anything. Miguelito loved his family and extended family, especially his dad and mom and his little siblings very much and his family loved him too, unconditionally. You were always there for him and that is most important . The love and the happy memories of little Miguel will live forever. Miguel Andrés was a force to be reckon with, his potential appetite and imagination for all life had to offer had no boundaries. He had a tender heart and a loyal and loving soul. He will be forever present in our hearts.

Having not seen “little” Miguel for many years, this is how we will largely remember him. Between our son Will and Braden. The 3 amigos. One of our favourite pics. We remember his big smile, his giant enthusiasm, and boundless energy.
Our hearts ache for this tragic loss. And we feel for Terri-Ann, Miguel, and their family whose lives have been forever altered. Our thoughts are with you. Miguel was so loved by you all and he knew that.
Our family will always remember little Miguel.

I will love you forever. I'm so happy that you were in my life. I remember so well watching you grow up.  From pull-ups to young adulthood. I will forever treasure the memories of our pillow forts, the tickle monster, and our heart to heart chats as you grew older. 

I will always cherish that you let me call you 'sweetheart' even when you were too old for that to be cool.  And how you always smiled with pride when I introduced you to friends and colleagues as my brother. 

I wish that I had told you face to face how much I always thought that your gentle spirit and vulnerability were your true strengths---how they made you tougher than you ever realized.

There are no words here that can convey how much joy you took with you when you left. I hope that you know how much everyone loved and cared about you, and that you are in a happier and peaceful place now.

Miguel was one of my best friends when I was younger, I remember playing man hunt with him and his sisters. 
Miguel was an amazing person inside and out. 
It still boggles my mind that he’s gone.
I remember the day that he picked a flower and told my brother to put it in my dresser, (it was a wilted flower) but it was a cute gesture. 
He will always be someone that I loved with all my heart.

Terri, I have not known you for very long but it has been apparent to me from the start that your family means the world to you.  I am sure Miguel knew he was a special person and that he was loved by many.   My heart truly breaks for all that you and your family are going through and I hope that reflecting on the past and happy times together gives you some comfort.  I am very sorry for your loss.

My definition of family is when you love someone and you are ready to do everything to cost to you for him like wake up at 3 Am because you want to talk when you know you have to be up for work at 6AM, treat him the same way you treat your genetic son, you punish him went he is wrong but still love him and yeah He was my one of my 4th son….. Tu n’as jamais eu des problèmes d’intégration tout le monde t’aimaient pour ta joie et ton optimiste, cette joie me manquera ……love you son.

I didn’t know Miguel as much as I would’ve liked too. All I know is that he was one of the nicest and most kind-hearted people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. The best memory I have of Miguel is playing video games with him and our brother Mateo. Miguel also had a very strong relationship with Mowgli (our dog). I kid you not every time the saw each other their blood pressure would sky rocket and would play for hours on end. Miguel went through a lot. He was just starting to get his life together and he had a plan for his future with his job as a firefighter and living with his girlfriend Paige. There’s nothing I wanted more than to see him succeed. He was the kindest person and it’s so so sad to see him leave this world so early. We all love you Miguel and your memory will stay in our hearts forever. 

We only got to know you a little while but you were family.   We loved to hang out!   I was so happy to hear you thought of me like a second dad.   You will always be family.  You’re going up on the mantel where we can say hi and chat, everyday!

Thank you all so much for the support in this difficult time, I am blessed to have so much love directed to me and my family.  I am doing as well as can be expected but surely struggling and trying my best to cope.  I do have the assurance that my first born son died peacefully and painlessly in his sleep.  Miguel Andres died while trying to improve his life.  He was all set to return to College in May, begin a new part time job in the next few days and was working to deepen his faith.  These last few weeks, he made a point to be very affectionate, appreciative and considerate.  This was truly the best behaviour and stability that he displayed perhaps in his entire life.  18 years is way too short of a lifetime, but I thank God to have had him in my life.  As a parent you try to teach the best lessons and prepare your kids for life, but you often end up learning so much from your children too.  Miguel, surely left me with many life lessons and with a deep sense of love for him.  May he rest in peace.

    It was with the deepest sadness that Jackie, Emily, Allison and I learned of (little) Miguel's tragic passing.  They join me in expressing our heartfelt condolences to you all.
    Losing a cherished son and a loved brother is devastating, and I know that there is little that I can write or say which will diminish the grief and indeed the other emotions you are experiencing at this time.  From experience, however, I know that while the pain of your loss will never go away, its intensity will slowly diminish over time.  What I hope that you will find is that the pain is replaced by all the great memories you have of Miguel.  And it is those loving memories that will keep Miguel alive in your hearts and your minds.
    Please know that while we will be unable to join you in person on Wednesday, rest assured that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Parents never admit to having a favorite child but the connection between a first born and his mother is one that is truly special. Although you never knew, your experiences stemming from birth, helped shape me as a mother. I would often call your mom and because she had experience raising a little man, she was able to guide me in my own parenthood of a son.
Your passing is a great loss. The strength and courage that your siblings and mom have demonstrated over this past week is inspiring. Your departure will never be forgotten but used as a reminder to all your loved ones that they will never be walking alone. I'm sure you will be watching and smiling with pride as they navigate these trying times.

My older brother and my first friend. As kids we were best friends and you were always there for me. You made me feel so loved and you were always there for me. I love you now and forever. - lauren myers ❤️

Miguel was full of life and full of energy.  His greatest loves were family, Paige, his hamsters and his dog, Mowgli.   The boy would never pass up hashbrown casserole, Godlieve's fried chicken, pupusas or baked brie.   He loved to spend his time on his step father's boat, at the beach and wrestling with his baby brother, Mateo.   He fought his addiction hard and we are so grateful that we got the last year with our precious boy.   When I remember him, I see his grin and I feel his frequent hugs.  The world is better because he was here!  Love you, bunny!
