Norma Salvas

Norma Maria Salvas, nee Boggio, was born in Toronto on September 9th, 1937. She died on Wednesday October 14th, 2026, at the age of 89. Predeceased by her parents, Carlin Boggio and Mary Boggio (nee Allemano), her older brother, Carl, and her son-in-law, Kevin Pollard. Norma leaves her beloved husband of 64 years, Roland, her much loved children, Lorraine (Phil), Carole (Bob) and Paul (Shirley), her cherished grand-children, Brent (Vyktorya), Emma (Luc), Monica (Daniel) and Matthew, as well as her precious great-grandsons, Jackson, Félix and Benoît. Norma is survived by her younger brother, Glenn, her sister-in-law, Roseanne, her nieces, Lisa (Warren), Anne (Steve), Noelle (Wes), her nephews, Paul (Danielle) and Marc, and many great nieces and nephews.

Norma was a proud Canadian. She grew up in Toronto and attended local schools. Norma graduated from St. Michael’s Hospital School of Nursing in the class of 1959. She became a registered nurse and worked at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. Norma spent many happy years being a stay-at-home Mom. She enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, playing tennis, badminton, bridge and entertaining family and friends. Norma was an active volunteer for over 30 years at North York General Hospital. In later years, she worked as an office coordinator for family practice for Sunnybrook Hospital.

Norma’s greatest joy was her happy marriage to Roland. She loved travelling with Roly and Carole. As all her family members know, her favourite city was Venice. Among our treasured memories are our family vacation to the Dominican Republic and our family cruise for Norma and Roly’s 50th wedding anniversary. Norma relished her position as family matriarch and was at the heart of all family activities. She will be remembered for her superb organization, great planning skills and her role as central distributor of all family updates, photos and news. Norma had a strong faith and a positive outlook on life. She was very friendly. Norma had a large circle of friends and a very active social life.

Thank you to the kind and supportive staff at Sunnybrook Hospital, North York General Hospital, Salamat Home Healthcare (Raquel, Sheila, Sheryl, Sheri, Ira and Rowena), Venvi Donway Place and the Tammy Latner Center for Palliative Care (Margaret, Dr. Arvanitis).

A private funeral Mass for immediate family will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Roland and Norma Salvas and family Endowment Fund, in memory of Norma Salvas, at North York General Hospital.
