1954 -2020
Ross passed away in Toronto, Ontario on March 21, 2020. He will be greatly missed by his wife Mary, daughters Megan and Melanie Lillies (Adam Ostrowski), beloved grandson Felix, sister Edie Finlayson, brother Bob Lillies and many other relatives and friends, all of whom Ross cherished and held close to his heart. Sadly, Ross was predeceased by his brother Pat Lillies.
Ross loved life and embraced it with great enthusiasm. He had a great talent for sports, including baseball, golf and downhill skiing. However, his special passion was curling. As a skip, he called a great game, always treated his team and other players with kindness, in addition to a wonderful ability to deliver on many critical shots.
Ross enjoyed his career in telecommunications. His dedication and enthusiasm for his work, an amazing ability to motivate and work well with others, accompanied by a quick wit, a great sense of humour and fun allowed him to work successfully as a technician and eventually in various management positions.
Ross loved Northwestern Ontario and couldn’t wait to return home with his family every summer, to visit with relatives and old friends, enjoy a sauna at Firehill, to pick blueberries and especially to fish.
If it is safe to do so, a funeral service to celebrate and remember Ross, will be held in the summer of 2021, at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Nipigon, Ontario.
Special thanks to Dr. Christine Chen and the dedicated staff at PMH. Many thanks also, to Dr. Raja Rampersaud and Dr. Roger Smith, at Toronto Western and the caring staff at Toronto General. As a direct result of your dedicated care and talent, Ross was able to enjoy life, despite his challenges.
