Alita Hunt was born on March 13, 1927 to the late George Cockburn and Alice DeSilva. She and her brother Gilbert were raised in Manhattan. She graduated from Cathedral High School. Upon graduation, she worked for many years at Blue Cross Blue Shield.
She married Edward J. Hunt in 1961. They had two children, Edward and Catherine. After raising her children, Alita joined her husband at his company; Hunt's Trucking, in Hunts Point, NY, as bookkeeper. They remained happily married until his death in 1992.
Alita is survived by her children Edward Hunt; daughter Catherine McDonald and her husband Brian McDonald; grandchildren Alexander and Madeline McDonald and niece Linda Tommasulo.
