Ann was born and raised in the Bronx, the only daughter and youngest child of Michael and Susan Grace, both of County Clare. She was very proud of her Bronx Irish roots, her faith and the distinguished military service of both of her brothers.
She is predeceased by her parents, as well as her two loving older brothers Harry (Charlotte) and Jack (Anne). Ann was a devoted daughter who later moved to New Rochelle with her parents and took excellent care of her mother after her father’s death.
Ann was a doting aunt who spoiled her Grace nieces and nephew; Anne Marie (Tim), Susan, Mary Pat (Phil), Charlotte (David), Sean (Betty Ann), Maureen and Siobhan (Dennis). She wanted to show them the finer things in life, introducing them to beautiful restaurants and never missing birthdays or celebrations. She was elated as her Grace family grew and grew and each new generation loved their Aunt Ann. She was curious and kind and connected so easily with everyone she met.
She was a long time supervisor at the telephone company, where she cultivated many dear friends and an amazing wardrobe! She was known for her loyal heart, her easy laugh and her enviable sense of style.
Later in her life, at the phone company, she met the love of her life, Tom Maat, with whom she found complete joy and contentment. In marrying Tom, she was also blessed to become a part of the extended Maat family, who she loved so much and who all welcomed her warmly. Ann and Tom moved to Scarsdale and shared a beautiful love story. They spent winters in Florida and summers with friends at the Lake Isle Country Club. They were happily married until his passing.
Ann is also predeceased by two dear friends, Madeline Weigold and Geri Connolly who each fed into her incorrigible, mischievous side and brought her so much joy. After each of them passed on, their children and grandchildren remained cherished love ones.
Ann spent the last years of her life in Sunrise of New City where she was lovingly cared for by a kind and compassionate staff. Her last days were spent peacefully and comfortably due to their devoted care. Her family is eternally grateful.
