I just now learned of the death of Dr. Georgiana Reynolds from my college alumnae association. I graduated from Western College in Oxford, Ohio in 1974. Dr. Georgiana Reynolds was one of the professors who had the greatest impact on me. She taught classics and archaeology at Western College from 1965 to 1974. Her energy and enthusiasm for her subjects really inspired me. After I graduated from Western College, I went on to get a master's degree in anthropology with a concentration in archaeology as a result of her influence on my career path. Dr. Reynolds also traveled widely throughout the world and encouraged the love of travel that I still have to this day. You will never be forgotten, Dr. Reynolds.

Georgiana, you were a quiet yet steady presence with the Yonkers Historical Society.  The few conversations we had outside the Sherwood House indicated that you were deeply concerned with preserving the best of Yonkers.  Dr. Reynolds, you will be missed.

Did Georgiana Reynolds have a middle name?  Certainly she did... and it is "ENERGY"!  Georgiana's step was quick, her speech was fast, and her smile was radiant.  She used her tremendous energy to bring others into her orbit, to be a great presence at Sherwood House for the Yonkers Historical Society and, I am sure, to inspire all of us...her students and friends.

We are just devastated at the loss of our dear friend Georgiana.  She was such an integral part of our lives in the Yonkers Historical Society.  As one of our Scout volunteers said on learning of her passing, she had a smile that just lit the room.  She always was happy, smiling, and laughing. She loved Sherwood House and its history, and we loved having her with us.
Her quiet charm, warmth, intelligence, and wit will be very sorely missed; it just won't be the same without our Miss G.
She is at peace now, smiling down on us all from heaven.

I met Georgiana near the end of my time in Yonkers and remember her a sweet and dedicated person. She genuinely cared for the welfare of the Sherwood house and was a pleasure to work with. She will be greatly missed by everyone at the Yonkers Historical Society. Terrence Price

A joy to volunteer with, a heart as big as they come, & and inspiration to all. Full of energy, smiles & stories that brought the history of the Sherwood House to a new level.

Georgiana was the quintessential volunteer at the Yonkers Historical Society. She was a lovely tranquil presence at Sherwood House and, wherever she went, a gracious and charming lady. She will be truly missed.

Georgiana Reynolds is survived by her cousin (once removed) Patricia Callahan of Apalachin, NY, cousins (twice removed): Kevin Callahan of Vestal, NY; Kelly Klein of New Milford, PA; Kimberly Mulvey of Binghamton, NY; Julie Callahan of Kirkwood, NY and Jessica Lewis of Apalachin, NY.  Also three cousins (thrice removed) of New Milford, PA and three cousins (thrice removed) of Apalachin, NY.  Though Patricia and Georgiana met once when she was young, Patricia recalls how her uncle Roy would rave about how proud he was of his daughter and her accomplishments.  One recollection was about Georgiana going on a big archaeological dig in Mexico.  This fits with her Ph.D. in archaeology from New York University.  After touring the Sherwood House, Georgiana became a docent there and became Volunteer of the Year in 2002.  Then in 2011 she was awarded the Key To History from the Yonkers Historical Society.  Those from the Historical Society and Sherwood House became her "family" and she will be missed by them.  As a family member that never met "Miss G" I am greatful to her friends that really cared for her and a special thanks to Mary Hoar for giving me a glimpse into the fine lady that I am proud to call family.
