Jeane Elizabeth (Pufahl) Anderson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Burlington Health and Rehab at 99 years old. Jeane was born on October 30, 1918, in Bronx, New York, daughter of the late August Pufahl and Isabella (Sawyer) Pufahl. Jeane graduated from James Monroe High School, Bronx, New York, as an honor student. Prior to marriage, Jeane worked for the American Kennel Club and Southeastern Cottons, New York City, in clerical positions. She was united in marriage to the late Robert S. Anderson on May 31, 1942, Bronx, New York.
After raising a daughter while building two houses—one in Hawthorne, New York, and one in Red Hook, New York--with her husband, Jeane returned to the business world and worked for Montgomery Ward as an Invoice and Receiving Supervisor in Poughkeepsie, New York, and later for General Electric as a Government Property Analyst, Burlington, Vermont. After retiring from GE, she worked part-time for McAuliffes in Burlington, Vermont.
A beloved wife, mother, aunt, grand-aunt, and great-grand-aunt, she was pre-deceased by her older brother, August Pufahl, New Jersey, and husband, Robert S. Anderson. Jeane is survived by her daughter, Jeane E. (Anderson) Sutton of South Burlington, Vermont; niece, Adrienne (Anderson) Barnhart of Bronx, New York; niece, Barbara (Pufahl) Kozak and her companion, Dr. Russell Down of Cape May Court House, New Jersey; grand-niece, Ann Hutchinson-Allen and husband, William Stanley Allen, of Monroe Township, New Jersey; grand-nephew, Jacob Stern, III, of Cape May Court House, New Jersey, and friend, Kate Amses of Avalon, New Jersey; and great-grand-niece, Dr. Barbara Hutchinson-Jones and husband, Dr. Andrew Jones, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
During her lifetime, while in school, Jeane participated in sports, such as, basketball and roller skating. Later in life she enjoyed dancing, art, painting, baking, reading, and travel throughout the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, and cruises through the Panama Canal and the Caribbean Islands with her daughter. Her motto was: NEVER SAY I CAN’T, ALWAYS SAY I CAN!
