John F. Byrnes

John Francis Byrnes, 63, of Eastchester, NY, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on October 3, 2024. John was preceded in death by is his mother and father, Anne Marie (Sweeney) and Francis Byrnes and survived by his wife Elizabeth (Duffy) Byrnes, children Colleen (Bruce) Butler, Elizabeth (Scott) Young, Brian (Vanessa Jovel), William, grandson Jack Byrnes Young and his six siblings.

John was born in Yonkers, NY on November 30, 1960, to Anne Marie and Francis Byrnes, he and his twin were the youngest of seven children. In 1982 John joined the Local Union #3 IBEW and worked as an electrician for the next 40 years. In 1984 John married his wife, Liz, and they had four children. This past August John and Liz celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. John was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Memorial visitation for John will be held on Sunday, October 6th from 3pm – 7pm at the Edwin Bennett Funeral Home, 824 Scarsdale Ave, Scarsdale NY. A Funeral Mass will be held on October 7th at 10:30 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 8 Carman Rd, Scarsdale, NY. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate blood in honor of John’s memory.
