Robert L. Bechtel, 70 of Newmanstown, passed away in Hershey Medical Center on Tuesday June 18, 2024. He was born in Lebanon on January 15, 1954, a son of the late Russell Schneck and Margaret Bechtel. He was the husband of Bonita L. (Steinmetz) Bechtel to whom he was married to for 52 years. Mr. Bechtel worked at North American Refractories for over 30 years. He was an avid Volkswagen car enthusiast and collector. Surviving in addition to his wife are children: Melissa A. Brown of Florida and Robert L. Bechtel Jr. of Newmanstown; grandchildren: Anastasia Hertzog of New Jersey and Katelyn Brown of Lebanon; great grandson: Set “Bean” Hertzog; brothers: Russell, David “Butch” and Thomas Schneck; sister: Peggy Lawrence. A funeral service will be held in the Clauser Funeral Home Inc. 116 N. Carpenter St, Schaefferstown, PA, 17088 on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM with a viewing from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
