He was born on June 9, 1949, in Troy, New York, a beloved son of the late Edgar and Charlotte Mack. After growing up in Connecticut, George went on to graduate from Amherst College in 1971, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and International Literature. After graduation, he then pursued a career that embraced his love of art, spending over forty years working as a Graphic Designer. During his career, he opened his own Design Studio, where he was able to spend more time with his wife and two daughters.
George can best be described as a “Renaissance Man.” In addition to his love of art, he had a passion for woodworking, watercolor, magic, trivia facts (not sports) as well as collecting and reading mystery and science fiction/fantasy books. Anyone who met him appreciated his patience, kindness and sense of humor.
George had a special place in his heart for music and composing. He spent many years singing in the First Parish Unitarian Church of Cohasset, as well as being involved as a parent in the Scituate Schools’ Music Community. The house would often be filled with his guitar playing and singing, or other surprise instruments he gathered along the way.
Above all George was happiest with his family and sharing all of his wonderful ideas and interests with his wife and children. George met his wife Donna Shecrallah-Mack on a Peter Pan Bus on a chilly Columbus Day Weekend in 1982, and they have loved each other since then. He was also loved by his children: Katie (Kat) Mack and her partner Ky, and Diana Mack and her fiancé Phil; his sister Nancy Hatch and her husband, Eric and their children, Hilary and Jenifer; his brother Ralph Mack and his wife Lorraine and their son Ed; and the large number of in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family, too many to list but not forgotten.
There will be Celebration of Life at the First Parish Unitarian Church, 23 N. Main Street, Cohasset, Massachusetts on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in George’s memory can be made to The Massachusetts Chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
