103 Years · Scituate, Massachusetts
A Life Well Lived
Jane Fallon was born on December 4, 1922. A proud 1940 graduate of Scituate High School, Jane’s career began at John Hancock’s Quincy office, where she served as an Assistant Office Manager — excelling, as she tended to do, in work that required both precision and people. But it was her two decades as Scituate’s Town Treasurer that cemented her as a true institution in the community she loved. She wasn’t just a public servant; she was a local legend. Ask anyone who grew up in Scituate in those years, and they knew Jane Fallon.
Before putting down those permanent roots, Jane spent time living in Hollywood, Florida — evidence that she had a flair for sunshine and a touch of adventure — before returning to Scituate to raise her seven children alongside her beloved husband, John “Honk” Fallon.
Scituate wasn’t just where Jane lived. It was her. And for 103 years, she gave back to it far more than she ever took.
What She Loved
Jane was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Scituate, where her faith was as steady and enduring as the town she loved. She was a passionate golfer and could be seen on the ski slopes well into her 80’s. She had a particular and unapologetic devotion to Tooey’s cookies, ice cream and plain foods.Vegetables, it should be noted, were rarely invited to the party. She knew what she liked, and life was too short for anything less.
She was a fixture at Scituate Community Christmas and a presence at every gathering that mattered. Her friendships were not casual acquaintances — they were lifelong commitments, nurtured with warmth, loyalty, and the particular generosity of someone who always showed up. Her friends will tell you plainly: she made everything more fun.
Her People
Jane was predeceased by her husband John “Honk” Fallon; her daughters Geraldine “Pippi” Conboy and Patricia “Tooey” Fallon; her sisters Peggie Kent and Tricia Dacey; and her brothers William, Pat, and Larry Crowley.
She is survived by her children Candy Thornton, Fran Zammitta, Frank Fallon, William and Holly Fallon, and John and Judy Fallon.
She leaves behind 12 grandchildren who knew her as Gramu: Cathy Conboy, Mary and Chris O’Connor, Candace Sequiera, Fred and Sara Douglas, Joe and Bridgit Douglas, Megan and Brian Kearney, Charly and Vanessa Thornton, Bryce Fallon, Brian and Elise Fallon, John and Ashley Fallon, Chelsea Fallon and Andrea Fallon, 19 great- grandchildren: Xavier, Nate, Keegan, Molly, Addie, Beckett, Fiona, James, Trey, Charlotte, Fallon, Owen, Nico, Olivia, Cole, Addison, Ava, Ella, Dana and 1 great-great-grandchild, Mila.
One hundred and three years is a number that invites reflection and admiration. She was a determined and passionate woman. We imagine that she would look around at the whole beautiful, sprawling, wonderful family, friendships and faith she built over a century, give a little smile, and say ---- “Just right, fella.”
Please join us for a celebration of Jane’s life at The Scituate Community Center (formerly Pier 44) on May 9th, 2026 from 1-5pm.
