Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, he was the son of the late John Joseph and Doris (Vaillancourt) Devine.
Jack was a golf professional and a proud member of the PGA Professional Golf Association since he was 20 years old. Throughout his illustrious career, Jack dedicated his skills to several prestigious golf clubs, including Norton Country Club, Rehoboth Country Club, Unicorn Golf Course, Scituate Country Club, Hyannis Golf Club, North Hill Country Club, Halifax Country Club, Reservation Golf Club, and Black Rock Country Club. Jack also was the Assistant Golf Coach at Wentworth Institute of Technology from 2010 to 2013, further exemplifying his commitment to the sport and the development of young talents.
Jack's passion for golf extended beyond the greens as he taught in various junior league clinics and events, where he imparted his knowledge and skills to countless young men and women.
Jack's life was dedicated to the sport of golf and the people he touched along the way. His favorite piece of advice was “Remember, the game of golf is played between your two ears”.
Although his career was as a golf pro, Jack's passions extended far beyond the course. He possessed a flair for writing and proudly saw his first published work, "The Returned," released, reflecting his love for American Revolution history, mystery, and humor.
Jack dedicated numerous nights and holidays as the sole parishioner committed to holding vigil at St. Frances X. Cabrini Church in Scituate, Massachusetts, before it officially closed in 2004. He specifically chose to be present during holidays so that his fellow parishioners could spend cherished moments with their loved ones.
Additionally, jazz music was at the center of Jack's psyche. His perfect night out was dining and dancing at any local Jazz event.
