John E. White Jr., of Scituate, passed away December 1, 2018, from complications of congestive heart failure at the age of 72. He was the beloved husband of Frances E. (McCarthy) White for 48 years. They resided in Scituate, for the last 33 years.
John graduated in 1968 with a B.A. in Biology with a minor in Fine Arts from Georgia Southwestern University. He later graduated from the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston with a BFA in Painting. John began his career at Firemans Fund Insurance where he met his wife Frances, and then went on to work for Hub Folding Box in Mansfield, MA for 15 years. John retired early to run a small transportation business, Abbey Road Limousine, with his wife. John did the majority of driving for several years, taking clients (who often became friends) into Logan Airport. Most recently John worked for Scituate's Council on Aging as a van driver where he made many friends.
John was also an accomplished and passionate artist, painting in watercolor and oil. He won many local awards for his work and was a member of art associations in Duxbury, Pembroke, Quincy, Marshfield and Scituate.
He is survived by his wife Frances, daughter Nicole, son Justin and his wife Heather and grandchildren Charlotte and John David, sister Barbara (White) Donnelly, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A wake will be held Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate, MA 02066. Funeral Mass to be held Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Nativity 1 Kent St. Scituate, MA.
A private burial to be held at a later date.
