Emmanuel "Manny" Jesus Lopes, 45, passed away suddenly on November 3, 2018. His devotion to his family and his friends will be missed, however they rest in the knowledge that he has now returned to his heavenly home.
Manny was born to Delfino Lopes and Maria Lopes in Boston, MA on June 20, 1973. From a very young age, he embraced the role of protector. When he graduated from Scituate High school in 1992, his servant heart and need to protect those he loved, lead him to enlist in the U.S. Army, where he served his country overseas in Operation Desert Storm. When his service to his country was complete, he returned home and continued to build strong friendships and community ties, touching many hearts and lives through his kindness and generosity, always looking out for those he cared for.
Manny was part of a large and loving family and they were blessed by his presence every day. He was the type of person, who always made you feel safe just knowing he was near, and it’s been said by those close to him “as a kid, the world seemed big, but Manny was even bigger.” He was kind, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
Manny is survived by parents; his sisters Delfina Lopes and Joanna Lopes; his brother by heart Abel Lopes; his son Manny Lopes and his daughters Delfina Lopes and Izabella Lopes. He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Oliviera and Mr. and Mrs. Lopes respectively, and his cousins Freddie Lopes and Jose Lopes.
Visitation for Manny and his friends and family will be held on Friday November 9th from 4pm to 8pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate. A funeral mass will be held at 10am on Saturday November 10th, from Saint Mary of Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate.
