Peter L. Hanlon

Born and raised in Weymouth, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Connell) Hanlon. Peter was a proud US Marine Corps veteran. He met and married Shirley, living in several places before settling in Scituate and raising their family.

He was an outdoor enthusiast and loved being by the ocean, making the family home on his much loved Third Cliff in Scituate an especially treasured haven.

He was an avid runner and was in charge of medal distribution for the Boston Marathon for nearly 20 years. During his free time, he also enjoyed golfing, photography and cooking incredible meals for family and friends.

He was the devoted father of Heather Gesing and her husband Rand W. Gesing, Jr. of New Canaan, CT and Kati Mayo and her husband Sean Mayo of Charlotte, NC.

Cherished grandfather to Alexandria, Rand III, Jane, Lola and Declan.

Loving brother to Mary Jo Jones, John Hanlon, Patricia Souke, Thomas Hanlon and the late William Hanlon Jr.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 1, from 4-7 PM at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate. A funeral Mass will take place at 11AM on Wednesday, February 2, at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate.
