

HARKINS, Philip C. – 90, of Hingham, formerly of Yarmouth and Springfield, passed away in the early morning hours of November 16, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Frances (Arsenault) Harkins, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Devoted father of Karen Tajima of Norwell and Kevin Harkins of New Port Richey, FL.
Proud grandfather of Kara Tajima Nolan, Kathryn McGregor, Leanne Tajima and the late Shannon Harkins. He also leaves behind two great grandsons, Thomas Tajima Nolan and Alister Tajima McGregor and future great granddaughter, Baby Nolan.
Son of the late Owen and Catherine Harkins. Loving brother of the late John, Francis, and William Harkins.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Harkins was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He received his masters degree in Social Work from Boston College. His work encompassed helping Veterans and adoption placement. Phil was a person who not only touched many through his work, but also in his everyday encounters. In addition to his wholesome and kind nature, Phil was best known for his witty remarks, which left an impression on everyone he met.
Visitation at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 9-11 AM with a funeral home service at 11 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial at 1:00 P.M. at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
