Robert grew up in Roxbury and attended St. Patrick's Grammar School and served as an altar boy at St. Patrick's Church in Roxbury. He graduated from Boston College High School in 1955 and went on to work for New England Telephone Company for over 35 years starting as a coin collector, then serving as a sales manager and director of sales, then retiring as director of training. After retirement, became the Director of Training for Telcom Asia in Bangkok Thailand and Jakarta, Indonesia.

Robert loved traveling and sports, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family. He had many memory filled trips around New England, at his Cape house in Yarmouth, trips to Florida and various other cities and countries around the world with his wife Faythe including their adventures in Thailand and Indonesia. So many cherished family memories were made on these trips but also in his daily interactions. He loved being a part of his grandchildren’s lives and you could always find Grampy at their sporting events, recitals, concerts and art shows. Where ever they were, he wanted to be.
