

Robert S. Wiley of Scituate, formerly of Summerville, SC passed away after a long illness February 7, 2014. He is predeceased by his parents Gilbert G. and Doris C. Wiley and his brother Richard C. Wiley. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Merrilee (Bruce) Wiley, and his three children Brenda L. Flanigan of Florence, MA, Brian L. Wiley (Anne) of Marshfield, MA, and Krista (Paul) Culina of Orono, ME, as well as three grandchildren, Madison, Benjamin and Nathan Culina of Orono, ME, a nephew Gregory Wiley and niece Jennifer Wiley.
Mr. Wiley loved the ocean, boating, fishing and lobstering. He has passed that love on to his children. When not sailing on C-3 freighters, he would work with his brother building custom homes on the South Shore.
Mr. Wiley was a graduate of Scituate High School class of ’57 and Mass Maritime Academy Class of ’60. He was a merchant marine for several years sailing around the world 8 times. He worked for National Steel Shipbuilding in San Diego, CA and General Dynamics in Quincy, MA. He retired after 21 years as the Building Commissioner for the Town of Marshfield.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February 23rd, 2014 at 1:00pm at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd. Scituate, MA 02066.
