Anita Schanaman

She was born on October 18, 1945, in Bayard, Nebraska, to loving parents Gordon and Wilma (Speer) Downing. She received her early education in Bayard and attended Hollywood Beauty School and graduated in 1964.

She married Roger Schanaman on June 6, 1965, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and made their home in the valley.

She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and had many hobbies like camping. She was gifted at crochet, creating many blankets and dolls for her family. She also enjoyed watching her roses grow in her front yard, game shows, and storage wars.

She was always a happy and loving “Mama” to everyone she met. She spent a lot of time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded by her parents and her brother Gene Downing.

She is succeeded by her loving husband Roger; daughters Michele (Chris) Ruff, Jean Thomas; son Roger (Melissa) Schanaman; grandchildren Kaleb Ruff, Damian and Danielle Thomas, Mathew Schanaman, Cody Brewer, Zach and Adam Stout, Kyle and Schalae Schanaman; great-grandchildren Kale, Douglas, Owen, Julian, Allen, Zachariah, Trinity, D'Veigh, Kai, and Eva; also numerous brother and sister in laws and nieces and nephews.
