Billie (Bill) Niels Rask Sr. 81 of Gering Nebraska passed away May 17th, 2021 at his home. Visitation will be held 4pm to 7pm on Sunday May 23rd, 2021 at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff Nebraska. A graveside memorial service will be held May 24th, 2021 at 2pm at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with Pastor Ed Hunzeker Officiating. Online condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com. Bill was born on June 1st 1939 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to William and Molly Rask. He graduated from Scottsbluff High School. After high School, Bill was in the United States Airforce until 1963. He married his sweetheart, Shirley Lou Babka, on June 8th, 1958 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and made their home in Gering, Nebraska. To this marriage three children were born: Billie Scott, Roxane, and Troy.
Everyone enjoyed Bill’s company, as he knew no strangers and became friends with everyone. He was well liked and admired in the community and beyond. Bill was the owner of Vintage Tin Antique Auto Parts. He was well known in the community as the owner of Tools R Us and the Snap On dealer. Bill was an avid drag racer. He was a member of the Scottsbluff Timing Association. He was also one of the original stock car racers when the Gering Nebraska Janes Speedway opened. Bill had a passion to work on and rebuild antique cars. He was a member of the Rolling Oldies Car Club.
While at home, Bill was a Denver Broncos and Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. He never missed a game. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and Indy Car Races. Bill and Shirley would go to car shows and coin/gun shows in their spare time. Bill loved collecting coins/paper money and was a member of the Oregon Trail Coin Club. Bill was the president of the Nebraska Numismatic Association.
Survivors include sons, Billie Scott and Troy (Heather) Rask; Grandsons, Billie Ryan, Skyler, Brody (Stephanie), Tyler Rask and Tristan Urwin; Granddaughters, Jessica Reichert, Alyssa, and Aaralyn Urwin; Great grandsons, Rhyatt, Oakley, Jace, Keenan, Matthew, and Cameron; Sister-in-law, Rogene Hiatt of Washington, with numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Lou Rask; Daughter, Roxane Marie Rask; Parents, William and Mollie Rask; and In-laws, Alfred and Dorothy Babka
