Cassie was born on November 7, 1987, in Portland, Oregon to David and Julie (Wolf) Baker. She later made her home in Scottsbluff, NE where she built a life filled with love, purpose and quiet strength.
Cassie and her partner Jesse Lynn Corbin shared nearly six years together, building a home and a family in Scottsbluff. Though never officially married, they lovingly claimed each other as husband and wife. Cassie embraced Jesse’s daughter, Jocelyn and step-children Sophie and Julian as her own from the very beginning, forming a bond rooted in patience, warmth and unwavering devotion. She never saw any of the three as anything less than her own children.
After beginning her career with the Region 1 Office of Human Development, Cassie spent a total of 15 years in day services. She was deeply committed to her work, passionately supporting
individuals with developmental disabilities and bringing compassion, dignity and joy to every person she served.
Cassie was an avid reader and writer, quietly crafting novels she was proud of and collecting stacks of books she and Jesse’s daughter enjoyed together. She loved arts and crafts, completed several large Diamond Art canvases and delighted in helping bake treats for school events. She also served as a joyful co-leader of her step-daughter’s Girl Scouts troop. Known for her selflessness, Cassie gave endlessly to friends and family, often putting others’
needs before her own. Her heart was enormous — stubbornly generous, endlessly loving and felt by everyone who knew her.
Cassie is survived by her mother and stepfather Julie and Randy Baszler; her brothers Noah Baker (Emily Baker) and Isaiah Baker (Jade Sutton-Baker); her life partner Jesse Lynn Corbin; and the children she lovingly claimed as her own, Jocelyn (8), Sophie (12) and Julian (15) Torres. She is also survived by her niece Charlie Baker (6); her nephew David Baker II (18); and her maternal grandmother Eva Marie Lack of Oregon.
Cassie was preceded in death by her father David Baker (2005); her sister Amanda Baker (2014); her paternal grandparents (2005 and 2017); and her maternal grandfather (2015).
