

Charles Herman Gehl, 61, of Gering died Monday, June 9, 2008 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2008 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastors Ed Hunzeker, Roy Lawton and Robert Haverick officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with military honors by the Nebraska Army National Guard. A memorial has been established in care of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home between 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Thursday. Charles was born June 6, 1947 in Grafton County, New Hampshire to Wilbur and Elizabeth (O’Neill) Gehl. He graduated from Forest View High School in Bensonville, ILL in 1965 and attended college at the University of Wyoming where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Economics in 1969. While in college Charles was a member of the Dairy Products and Livestock Judging Team and Farmhouse Fraternity. Chuck worked in construction for a few years before beginning his 30 year employment with Frank Implement as sales manager of their consumer and commercial products division. Charles was active of the Nebraska National Guard for many years and attended Officer Candidates School at Fort Benning Georgia after serving in the Army. He retired as captain. Charles married Sharon Haverick February 19, 1987 during a John Deere Cruise out of Miami. Charles was a member of Military Officers of America, Life member of the National Rifle Association, University of Wyoming Alumni Association and received an Aksarben Award for Nebraska Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughters Staci (Danny) Weekes of Woodbridge, Virginia and Jana Bernal of Reston, WA, sister Sue Gehl of Waukegan, IL and 3 Grandsons Anthony William Weekes, Evan Charles Weekes and Shaun Bernal; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Anita and Richard Bauer of Gering, nephew Brad D. Bauer of Highlands Ranch, CO, niece Kim (Larry) Ehrman of Firestone, CO and great nieces Heather, Ashley and Whitney. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter Laura Hulda Gehl father-in-law and mother-in-law Harry and Lena Haverick.
