

Christina “Chrissy” Elaine Warthen, age 65, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026, at her home. Chrissy will be remembered as a generous, gentle, compassionate, kind-hearted, and selfless woman whose warmth and steady presence touched many lives.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Pioneer Park in Scottsbluff, with lunch following the service. Inurnment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff, on Monday, April 20, at 11:00 am.
Chrissy was born on December 8, 1960, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Robert and Florence (Green) Warthen. She graduated from Minatare High School.
She worked at Harry’s Café in Minatare as a cook and later opened her own restaurant—Chrissy’s Café on 10th Street Scottsbluff/Gering Highway—for a number of years.
Known for making the best cabbage burgers and cinnamon rolls, Chrissy’s love language was cooking. She found joy in feeding others and in preparing favorite dishes for family and friends, offering comfort and care in the way only she could.
Chrissy carried a happy, free spirit, and never met a stranger. She loved animals, especially her furry family, and she deeply loved her family. She will be missed by family and close friends.
Survivors include her brother Tom (Dorothy) Warthen; sister Joan (Chris) Hughey; nieces and nephew Tim Hughey, Nicole Sarnirand, Jamie Warthen, and Debbie Vesper; numerous nieces and nephews (who she loved as her own children); great nieces Willow and Winter Sarnirand and Lillith Samson; boyfriend Kurt Schanaman; and her furry babies Hershey (cat) and Mickey (dog) and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Robert Lee Warthen, Bonnie Sue Black, and Matthew Warthen; and niece Angela Warthen.
