

Funeral services for Donald Hobbs, age 76, of Gering, Nebraska, who died on July 30th, at Regional West Medical Center, will be Thursday, August 4th, at 10 a.m., at Dugan-Kramer funeral home with Pastor Schnare officiating. A graveside service will be at a later date with close friends and family. A memorial will be established at the Riverside Zoo for Don to continue to share his love for gardens. Donations will be accepted at Dugan-Kramer funeral home.
Don was born March 10, 1940, in Chadron, Nebraska, to Kenneth James Hobbs and Wyoma Wollesen. Don grew up in Alliance, Nebraska. He went to Chadron State College and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree of Arts. Don was a beloved biology teacher for more than 18 years, in Gering, Nebraska, and then became a well-known insurance sales man for the rest of his career.
Don is survived by his mother Wyoma; sisters Charlene Fitzgerald and Cheryl Baas; brother-in-law Bill Baas; nieces and nephews: Kenneth (Leslie) Fitzgerald, Dave Fitzgerald, Lori (Doc) Murray, Chris Baas, Joe (Jeanie) Baas, Debi Baas, Michelle (Matt) Herrmann, Ashley (Xavier) Kling, Brittney Fitzgerald; Great nieces and nephews: Rebecca Fitzgerald, James Fitzgerald, Cierra Herrmann, Colton Berndt, Levi Berndt, Savannah Baas, Parker Baas, Nevaeh Herrmann, Raine Sestak, and Tripp Kling.
Don was preceded in death by his father Kenneth, his brother-in-law Verne Fitzgerald, his great nephew Davon Fitzgerald, and several aunts and uncles.
